He increased his theatre expertise at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, involving a refurbishment to restore the public areas of the theatre to their former glory, reducing the number of seats in the auditorium from 2,200 to 2,000 for wider seats and extra legroom, while replacing all services in the existing Stage House and creating a new restaurant and offices.
Mark’s other projects include a state-of-the-art Sports and Science Centre for Brighton College, following Skelly & Couch’s successful delivery of a new Music School and Theatre at the College; the new Cambridge Central Mosque, an exemplar of sustainable design and the first ‘eco-mosque’ in Europe; an outstanding performing arts centre at the King’s School Canterbury, based in a former maltings; and the redevelopment of the Grade II-listed Farmiloe Building, a landmark in Clerkenwell, central London.
Mark contributed to a major project at the City of London Freemen’s School in Ashtead, Surrey, comprising a competition-grade, 5-lane, 25m swimming pool and the refurbishment and remodelling of the Grade II*-listed main house, to provide dining and kitchen facilities, new boarding accommodation and teaching spaces. He was also closely involved in two projects featuring innovative lighting design and public realm at the world-famous, Grade II*-listed Covent Garden Market Building and Opera Terrace in London.
